The life of a tech community is fast paced and to ensure we connect people, opportunities and resources we have to keep running, just how we like it!
In the past we have been quietly setting up education opportunities and running events at intervals of months but now we are bringing in smaller, more regular chances for people to get together.
We are chuffed that our very own Brenda Wallace is setting the pace with low key, no hassle drinks at the Strathmore Local every Thursday around 8pm. A chance for those that work in tech to get together, hack away and share a bite to eat and a yarn . "Work in tech", is by whatever means you like, be that hardcore data stream analysis for the screen tech industry or creating website for SMBs - if you're making computers do something at all, this is for you).
The Hack Miramar community is strong, thriving AND independent as evidenced by this wonderful initiative we are proud to put our weight behind. On the last Thurday of each month we will bring together NGOs/chairties that have a need of "tech help" )focussed on data) and suppyl an audience of the wider tech comunity that can hear the pain, suggest ossible ways forward. We'll also feed and water the attendees,
As is our tradition (can you have a tradition when you're not even a year old yet?), we have a full event about every quarter and this time we're focussing on the terabytes of data that the Wellington City Council collect and manage on our behalf. We have booked on the weekend of 14th / 15th November - pop it into your diary.
But wait, there's more
There are more activites on the horizon, some aimed at tech, some aimed at entrepreneur residents of the Peninsula and others just for the heck of it. To keep in the loop:
